I seem to be on a streak of really remarkable weekends. This one seemed like it might be an exception, since Jordan was stranded on the Hamilton mountain because of the snow, which turned out to be a great excuse to finish a good book and watch a very sweet movie.
By Saturday morning, the heavy snowfall had ended, leaving behind a perfect winter day. Jordan picked me up around 11, and following a nice breakfast and an impromtu quest for non-tabloid magazines with Heath Ledger on the cover, we boarded the train to Toronto. We showed up at the Mill Street Brewery, in Toronto's Distillery District, at 3:03PM, having just missed the tour by minutes. Hardly a problem when you're standing inside a large pub with all of Mill Street's finest brews on tap. I started with the Raspberry beer, and I must say, as much as I love the Clocktower and Pepperwood's Raspberry, this one was actually like sipping on dessert. Pair this with some brie quesidillas and sweet potato fries, and I was in heaven.

Matty and Nikki met up with us, and $150 later we left Mill Street (intoxicated at 8 PM is always a joy!) and headed to the Wintercity festival at Nathan Phillips Square. Wintercity was awesome! Thousands of planter's pots spilling with flames, a heated tent (serving beer, wine and soup), complete with a DJ and bubbles, plus watching skaters fall on their asses and a Weakerthans show.
The great part about starting to drink at 3 PM is that by 10 PM your night already seems complete. So after some veggie street meat, we boarded the bus to Hamilton, stopped by the Winking Judge for a few night caps, and were in bed by 1 AM!
I may not have the hankering that I once did to move to Toronto, but I do love having it a quick bus trip away.
Excuse any horrifying spelling, my blogger spell checker seems to be demented tonight.
