At Amanda's engagement party on the weekend, Jordan laughed at me, telling me I'm "untraditional, yet I love traditions," which basically came after I told him I'd never want to wear a white dress. "You'll never wear a white dress, yet you have to be home to watch the Oscars every year." Traditions don't necessarily have to be traditional.
One tradition that I've yet to mess with is Hamilton's Festival of Friends. Whether living in Ottawa, or living at home, I’ve always managed to make it to the folk festival, year after year. Like Jackie Washington, Paul Langille, Alfie Smith and Brent Titcomb, one of the staples in the festival (if not in person, but through other people playing his songs) has been Willie P. Bennett.
CBC.ca Arts - Canadian folksinger Willie P. Bennett dies: "Canadian folksinger Willie P. Bennett, a highly-respected musician who preferred being a backup player for many of the country's top singers, has died at his home in Peterborough, Ont.
Bennett's official website confirmed on Sunday that the Juno Award-winning singer passed away peacefully at age 56 on Friday."
