Summertime, and the livin' is easy...

Somehow, it’s August.
It amazes me really – that one season can go by so quickly, while the rest seem to last forever.
But, this isn’t one of those summers where I feel the need to type out all of the things that I had promised myself to do, or hoped I would do, or failed to do. Because in the past few months I’ve kept myself busy, and so far, have had a really incredible summer.
There have been road trips (Stratford!), cottaging, Ottawa, family BBQ’s, Toronto weekends, great bands, great books, great beers and an abundance of Caesars and sushi. I’ve even squeezed in a bike ride or two (though not often enough.) And Festival of Friends is only a week away, which has been a summer highlight since I was … well, since I was born.
Paul Langille won’t be the same this year. I don’t think he ever will. I’m pretty sure I’ve boycotted my favourite Burlington restaurant/bar in the world too, after a patio breakup. For all you guys out there, I suggest not breaking up with your girlfriend in one of her favourite places. It isn’t nice, and it kind of ruins the place for her!
I guess I just can’t understand why he hasn’t come to his senses on all of this yet. It still seems absurd. I won’t lie and say that people haven’t told me that this is “for the best,” and maybe it is. He seems to think so. But, I don’t think I’ll ever understand it. What I did wrong…what was so hard…
Maybe we were on different pages all along, and I was just to naïve and blind to see it.
