One resolution that I failed to write down greatly contradicts another: Don’t overbook myself. Don’t over commit to things, knowing that they’ll drastically cut down on my time and leave me frazzled. Committing to freelancing more this year really doesn’t support that. Already, it’s a week into 2009 and I have a few things lined up, including planning a book launch in Hamilton. The problem is, I love doing this stuff!
The one thing I think would solve a lot of problems is cutting down my commute. I takes me just over an hour, each way, to get to work. That’s an extra two hours a day I could be sleeping, cooking, writing, cleaning, etc. Unfortunately, my two options to reduce this are either to buy a car (which ultimately doesn’t make sense with the train station so close to my house and it also saves me money. Plus, the Go Train means prime reading/napping time.), or move to Oakville (which also doesn’t make sense, because, well, I don’t want to. I love my apartment and I love my city.)
I guess I’ve always been quite contradictory, so cheers to another year of that!
