An East Coast Vacation

It's Sunday, and I just read a whole book of poetry out loud, to myself, which is something I've never done. My mouth is dry now, from talking to myself. "What It Feels Like For A Girl," by Jennica Harper is one of the books that I hope to include in a feature that I'm writing for rabble.ca about the best of fiction for/about teen girls coming out of Canada this Fall. Who knew that reading out loud could be an excellent tool for absorbing material.

I've been trying to read as many of these books as possible, but spare moments have been rare this week. Monday Jordan and I flew back from Halifax. It was an absolutely wonderful trip, and I'm already itching to get back out East. This time I'd love to drive the Cabot Trail and see the other Maritime provinces. We picked the perfect time to go. The weather was surprisingly sunny and the colours were fantastic.

Those are just a handful of the hundreds of pictures I took while away. Needless to say, it was a well-needed vacation for both Jordan and I. And the food was remarkable! We even gave oysters a second chance, and we were blown away.

Since we flew back on Monday, neither of us have had much time to relax (let alone unpack). Jordan started a new job yesterday, and I've been back and forth to Toronto a number of times this week. Tuesday was The Sound of Music on stage, and it was surprisingly wonderful. It was especially the sets that blew me away. And Thursday was the day that many of us have been working toward for months (even years) now, the rabble.ca relaunch. Overall, a wonderful night, with very few hitches. I even walked away with a signed copy of The Shock Doctrine, as well as a copy of rabble's new "best of" book, which even features one of my articles. We had lots of great prizes, special guests, and the new site should be up soon. It can be previewed at http://beta.rabble.ca.

To top things off, Jordan and I won trophy last night! Now that's a first for us! It's more of a plastic skull, spray painted gold than a trophy, but it came with a lot of candy, so there are no complaints. This was our prize for best costumes at last night's Halloween kegger. I have pictures to prove how awesome our costumes were, unfortunately, we've got another party to go to on Friday, and I don't want to ruin the surprise by posting pictures. They'll follow shortly!
