Apparently, “blog something nice,” meant blog something happy! Jordan seems to think that Jimmy Stewart getting choked up about his dead dog isn’t quite what he had in mind. So, I oblige.
Happiness seems to be in the air these days, as cliché as that sounds! It really does. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m already getting excited for Christmas (especially a cookie exchange with friends), with a potential new apartment (sans roomies!), a rekindling with Jordan (where even a four hour round-trip to pick up a keyboard from a stranger’s apartment can be fun!) and an upcoming, last-minute trip to Ottawa (complete with a swanky hotel downtown!).
I’ve failed to blog about a lot of the fun things that I’ve been up to lately, so I’ll briefly, and happily, blog about my Pittsburgh/Cleveland trip now:
I could get accustomed to swanky hotels. Especially the Cleveland ones, which offer two hours of open bar in restaurant, serve beer in the lobby, give you two flat screen TVs and are connected to a sports bar with a lobster machine. Seriously – google lobster machine, and you’ll understand.
Wilco in Pittsburgh was wonderfully brilliant, especially after a few $5 pitchers, at a pizza-parlour/sports bar, where we made some lovely new self-deprecating American friends, who assured us that all American’s aren’t “fucked.”
And onto the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I’m a history-nerd and a music-buff, so this was my version of heaven. I honestly could have pondered over Elvis’s hotel receipts, John Lennon’s report cards, Hank Williams’ hat and Johnny Cash’s guitar for days.
Besides two hours at the border, which actually turned out to be a fun game of 20 questions, it was a great weekend! Unfortunately, my 9-5 schedule has ruined me, and I can’t keep my eyes opened much past midnight these days, so I was in bed nice and early, while my friends were out causing ruckus on the streets of two metropolises.
I’ll upload photos soon – in particularly the souvenir shot from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where we’re all rockin’ out with some funky props, and a gigantic American flag in the background! Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave ...
