late market nights

This isn’t a summer of late market nights.

Ottawa in April was only a tease. A streak of warm that was followed by cold. But now, the first days of patio season are upon us. And this time they are here to stay.

No more Wednesday afternoons on the Highlander patio, eating raspberries from a Styrofoam cup. This is a new kind of summer. No more stumbling into work at one, with my head still buzzing from a late market night.

I’ve traded these in for early to work mornings and early to bed nights.

I’ve traded the Highlander for Pepperwoods. The Market for Hess and Augusta and Village Square and Westdale and Yonge and Bloor and Kensington.

I might even trade my caesars for beer, if the mood hits me right.
